Self-care or pampering yourself every once in a while is not selfish
You deserve it. You’ve worked hard, you’ve had a long week and you’ve run around doing errands, held meetings, picked up kids, dropped them off, cleaned, cooked — whatever it is you do and everyone deserves a break every now and then.
Urban Retreat Spa encapsulates that by providing the ultimate space for you to relax and recharge.
Aside from massages, they’ve launched a new Hair Cream Bath treatment for days when you just want to be pampered.
The award-winning spa has multiple branches, however, this haircare treatment is offered exclusively at the KL East Mall outlet.
You start by picking one of four hair serum treatment options according to your scalp needs:
– Sensitive skin
– Oily scalp
– Dandruff
– Hair loss
The serum will be used during your session. I went with Dandruff.
Set up in a peaceful setting, with soothing music and ambient lighting, the space welcomes those who want to escape their hectic schedules for a while
During the treatment, the therapist will offer a facial massage. However, you can opt out of this if you want.
Nam, my therapist, she is added the chosen serum (for dandruff) into my hair that gave it a tingly, cooling feeling and released an essential oil scent. I absolutely loved it.
It was followed by a lengthy head massage, paired with a hair cream bath that immediately relaxed my entire body. She then added more serum, thoroughly cleansed my scalp and hair twice, and rinsed everything away. When she was done, I sat on a nearby chair and facing a mirror while she blew dry my hair.
I walked out of the session feeling refreshed, and best of all, relaxed. Not to mention, my hair felt really soft and clean.
Take note that when the therapist blow dries your hair, it won’t be salon-level hairstyling, but you will look presentable enough to head out.
Everything is done in a private room, which is especially good for hijab wearers or those who don’t feel comfortable being out in the open.
The self-care session ends with a choice between a cup of hot ginger tea or a bottle of mineral water.

If you get the Aromatherapy massage + Hair Cream Bath treatment at one-go, you won’t need to leave the room, as the therapist can fold the bed in half and continue your hair session right after the massage.
